Markus Söder begins Olympic promotional tour in Zagreb

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has begun an international promotional tour to support Munich’s candidacy for the Olympic Games, targeting years 2036, 2040, or 2044. The first stop of the campaign took place in Zagreb, Croatia, during a celebration for the Day of German Unity.

The event featured traditional Bavarian elements, including brass music and beer. However, the promotion faced a minor mishap when Florian Herrmann, the head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, struggled to tap a beer keg because the plastic tap broke upon impact. The keg eventually required pliers to open so that guests could be served Oktoberfest beer.

Croatia is noted as a close partner for Bavaria, supported by the approximately 120,000 Croatian citizens living in the state.
