Markus Söder's daughter describes bullying and eating disorder on TV

Gloria‑Sophie Burkandt, the 27‑year‑old daughter of Bavarian Minister‑President Markus Söder, appears in ProSieben’s documentary series “Born Famous – Fluch oder Segen”. In the programme she recounts severe bullying she endured at school, including physical assaults that led her to buy shin guards for protection.

Burkandt also reveals that she fell into an eating disorder, losing weight to 59 kg at a height of 1.85 m. She attributes her recovery to the support of an elderly couple, Inge and Erich, who acted as “replacement grandparents”. The pair, both 88, cared for her after her own grandparents died, intervened with her bullies, and helped her regain a healthy appetite through personal care and encouragement.
