Markíza adds controversial Czech series Sex O’Clock to Slovak summer primetime lineup

Slovak broadcaster Markíza has outlined its summer schedule, emphasizing series, films, comedy, re‑runs of hits and sports. The programming slate includes new Voyo Original productions, most notably the Czech teen drama Sex O’Clock. The series, which tackles adolescent sexuality and includes a storyline about a father coming out, will debut on July 2 and air two back‑to‑back episodes every Thursday at 21:50, following the crime series Police Modrava.

Markíza’s recent attempts to bring Voyo‑produced titles to free‑to‑air TV have yielded mixed results. Earlier releases such as Extraktori achieved only modest market shares of about 10–12 %, while Sex O’Clock initially reached a 20 % share on Nova before falling to roughly 12 % in its final weeks. Despite the prior downturn, Markíza is launching the series in a prime‑time slot, hoping the provocative content will attract viewers during the summer season. The schedule also features other local and Czech series, reality shows and a selection of films on the sister channel JOJ.
