Marl community events: Fire department open house and windmühle restoration efforts

The Alt-Marl volunteer fire department will host an open house event on Saturday, August 29, starting at 11:00 AM. The event features demonstrations of emergency exercises by both the youth and active fire brigades, as well as hands-on training for visitors in first aid, CPR, and the correct use of fire extinguishers. The Technical Relief Agency (THW) will also participate by showcasing vehicles and equipment.

Separately, the Heimatverein Marl is advocating for the restoration of the historic windmühle in Alt-Marl. While the tower has been restored, the cap and wings are still missing. Following successful facade and interior renovations funded by the NRW Foundation and local sponsors, the association continues to seek ways to complete the landmark, which has been a local symbol since its operation began in 1850.
