Marl faces infrastructure damage and industrial developments

The city of Marl is facing several local issues, including infrastructure damage caused by tree roots lifting asphalt and paving on Paul-Baumann-Straße and in Trogemannstraße. The ZBH has indicated that certain trees in Trogemannstraße may need to be removed.

Environmental concerns are also rising as ongoing drought causes vegetation fire risks and tree stress. Additionally, local authorities have warned that heat could exacerbate rat problems linked to improper food waste disposal.

In industrial news, Evonik plans to establish a demonstration plant in the Marl Chemical Park to facilitate the industrial production of raw materials using CO2. Other local reports include a 50-year-old man being seriously injured after being struck by a train and updates regarding the new district control center designed by architect Sven Gaeßler.
