Police increase presence in Marl-Hüls following disturbances

Police in Marl-Hüls and Recklinghausen have intensified patrols and inspections following recent disturbances caused by youth groups, including the throwing of fireworks and the lighting of trash cans on fire.

In coordination with the municipal regulatory office, authorities have conducted numerous checks, particularly targeting young individuals using e-scooters and fatbikes. These operations have resulted in 70 formal warnings, 15 criminal proceedings, two area entry bans, and eight administrative offenses.

Police President Friederike Zurhausen stated that the measures aim to address the insecurity felt by residents. While the increased presence has shown initial results in calming the situation, police confirmed that these specific disturbances are not linked to a recent explosion on Otto-Hue-Straße or other major violent crimes in the area. Authorities plan to maintain a strong presence in the coming days, including during Halloween.
