Marília expands Cata‑Treco waste‑collection program to six new neighborhoods

The municipality of Marília, Brazil, will launch a new phase of its Operação Cata‑Treco on July 13, extending the service to six additional neighborhoods in the city’s north zone: Terra Verde, Terras de São Paulo, Jardim Julieta, Campina Verde, Distrito Industrial Santo Barion and Jardim Santa Antonieta. Residents are asked to place large, no‑longer‑used items such as old furniture, appliances, mattresses and other bulky objects in front of their homes for collection by municipal crews.

The initiative seeks to improve urban cleanliness, curb the spread of disease‑carrying insects and venomous animals, and prevent illegal dumping in public areas. The program does not accept construction debris, tree‑pruning waste or organic trash. Municipal Environment Secretary Mario Rui emphasized that the operation is essential for maintaining a clean, organized city and protecting public health.
