Marlo Miazga launches M Media with personal documentary

Former Sphere Media executive Marlo Miazga has launched M Media, an IP-based production company based in Toronto. The new venture will focus on developing and delivering both scripted and unscripted entertainment for film and television.

The company’s inaugural project is a feature documentary titled ‘Ground Control’, directed by Chase Joynt. The film is a personal project for Miazga, detailing the death of her teenage son by suicide in 2020. The documentary is being developed in conjunction with Miazga’s upcoming memoir, ‘Ground Control: Losing My Child to Suicide’, published by Random House Canada.

Production for the documentary has been greenlit by CBC and is scheduled to begin this October, with a planned delivery in spring 2027. Financing has been secured through Telefilm Canada’s Theatrical Documentary Program, the Canada Media Fund’s POV programme, and the Rogers Documentary Fund. Miazga will serve as executive producer alongside Julie Bristow and Ryan Dias.
