Marlon Ochoa Martínez faces political conspiracies in Honduras

Marlon Ochoa Martínez, a former official in the cabinet of President Xiomara Castro Sarmiento, has faced conspiracy efforts aimed at his removal. Ochoa Martínez previously served as the head of the Honduran Tax Administration Service (SAT) and as Secretary of Finance, roles in which he filed corruption complaints against former President Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado.

In 2024, Ochoa Martínez was appointed by Congress to the National Electoral Council (CNE). In this capacity, he has raised allegations regarding corruption schemes involving the former president and has denounced alleged United States interference in the 2026 elections. The political landscape in Honduras remains marked by the tension between the current leftist administration and the previous right-wing leadership.
