Two marmosets, Mini and Rio, have been transferred from Croatia to the Primadomus sanctuary in Spain after spending nearly six years in captivity. The animals, which originally came from a breeder in Slovenia, were being kept as pets with the intention of being resold through classified advertisements.

Animal Friends Croatia assisted in the transfer to the Spanish sanctuary, which is operated by the Animal Advocacy and Protection (AAP) organization. The marmosets are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine.

Advocates noted that while the transfer is a positive outcome, it highlights a lack of legal regulation and a growing black market for exotic animals in Croatia. They emphasized that wild animals like marmosets are unsuitable for domestic life due to their specific dietary, temperature, and space requirements.
