Marnate and Valledoria implement new waste bins and enforcement to curb litter
The municipality of Marnate in Lombardy overhauled waste collection on Via Dora, installing about a dozen new bins, dividing the street into three sectors and appointing resident referents who work with the local police under the direction of Barbara Mainini. The reorganisation has eliminated previous over‑capacity problems, improving urban decor and hygiene.
In the Sardinian town of Valledoria, Mayor Beatrice Serra responded to waste left on streets by tourists staying in short‑term rentals. She urged property owners to provide tenants with collection schedules and bins, ordered the urban‑cleaning firm to clear the most affected stretch of Via Mazzini, and called on citizens to respect civic duties to keep the town clean.
