Maro Itoje returns to England rugby squad

Maro Itoje has returned to the England rugby squad as part of a 36-player group preparing for the upcoming Autumn Nations Series. The Saracens lock is expected to reclaim the captaincy from Jamie George for the match against Australia on November 8.

Itoje’s return follows a summer break, his first in over a decade, during which he missed matches against South Africa, Fiji, and Argentina. While Itoje is reintegrating, head coach Steve Borthwick has opted not to include Courtney Lawes or Joe Marchant in the current squad. Despite both players being available following their stints with French clubs Brive and Stade Français, Borthwick reportedly wants them to demonstrate their form in the Gallagher Premiership before being recalled.

The squad also features the return of Fin Baxter after foot injuries, alongside new inclusions such as Archie McParland and Kepueli Tuipulotu. England is scheduled to face Australia, Japan, and New Zealand throughout November.
