Maroc Telecom drives 5G rollout and digital connectivity across Africa
Maroc Telecom was recognized by Brand Africa for its significant contribution to expanding internet access and reducing the digital divide throughout the continent. The company’s investments in telecommunications infrastructure have enabled many previously underserved regions to connect to online services, supporting broader digital development.
At the same time, Morocco has emerged as a leading African market for 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA). The Ericsson Mobility Report highlighted Morocco – alongside Algeria – as one of the few African nations launching new 5G‑FWA offers. Rapid licensing by the national regulator, including three new 5G licences awarded in July 2025, and a regulatory framework that favours network industrialisation have helped local operators such as Itissalat Al‑Maghrib, Medi Telecom and Wana Corporate roll out high‑speed fixed wireless services as an alternative to ADSL and fibre.
