Marosa founder Pedro Pestana distributes €4.5 million to employees after sale

Pedro Pestana, the founder of the Galician technology firm Marosa, has distributed €4.5 million (approximately $5 million) to his 120 employees following the sale of the company. Marosa, which specializes in automating global corporate tax records, was acquired by the Dutch multinational Wolters Kluwer for €112 million.

After consulting with human resources, Pestana decided to distribute the funds based on seniority rather than equal amounts. Following the sale at the company's Vigo offices, Pestana personally called each employee in order of tenure to explain the transition and their specific share of the payout. While seniority influenced the amounts, Pestana ensured a minimum sum for every team member, including a new hire who had started only the day before.

A key condition of the sale was the continued employment of the entire staff and Pestana himself within the new corporate structure.
