Maroua hosts 2026 World Habitat Day celebrations

The city of Maroua has launched the 2026 Habitat Week, marking the start of celebrations for World Habitat Day, which runs from September 28 to October 5. The event began with an awareness march through the streets of the Far North regional capital to promote urban hygiene and sanitation practices.

As part of the festivities, the National Clean Cities Competition will feature ten municipalities representing Cameroon's ten regions. The commune of Ayos will represent the Centre region in the competition, following its second consecutive regional victory with a score of 98.11%.
