Maroussi basketball club urges Greek federation to approve ENBL entry
The Maroussi basketball club (A.K.E. Amariou) has formally requested permission from the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) to compete in the European North Basketball League (ENBL) for the upcoming season. The club sent letters to FIBA on 6 July and to the EOK on 16 July, stating that FIBA has not prohibited Greek teams from joining the ENBL and noting that 14 other European federations have already approved participation for their clubs.
Maroussi criticises the lack of an official response from the Greek federation, asking why the EOK has not granted approval while federations such as Austria, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania, the Netherlands, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Poland and Norway have done so. The club also points out that another Greek team, Herakles, competed in the ENBL last season.
