MARQ launches archaeological excavation campaign in Alicante

The Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ) has launched a new archaeological excavation campaign across six sites in the province of Alicante, supported by a total investment of 140,000 euros from the Diputación de Alicante.

Key projects include investigations at Tossal de Manises to study the Punic city of Ákra Leuké, which predates the Roman city of Lucentum. Another priority is the urgent conservation of the Western Baths of Ilici in La Alcudia de Elche to address structural damage. Other sites involved in the campaign include Illeta dels Banyets, Pobla d'Ifach, Cabezo del Molino, and El Tabaià.

Additionally, MARQ has implemented its winter schedule for the museum and managed archaeological sites, including Lucentum and the Torre de Almudaina. The museum continues to host the international exhibition ‘El oro y el universo. Saberes indígenas de Colombia’.
