Marquette women's soccer defeats St. Thomas 4-0 in season opener

The Marquette University women's soccer team opened its 2026 season with a 4-0 shutout victory against St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Megan Murray scored the opening goal in the fifth minute via a deflected free kick. Lilly Coats recorded her first collegiate goal with a midfield free kick, and Ella McAleenan added a header following a corner kick to extend the lead to 3-0 before halftime. Freshman Callie Hefner secured the win with a shot into the top-right corner during the second half.

The victory marks Marquette's fifth win in an all-time series against St. Thomas. The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play North Dakota State on Sunday, August 16.
