Marquinhos signals potential Nike departure with blacked-out boots

Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil defender Marquinhos has signaled a potential end to his long-standing sponsorship with Nike. During PSG’s victory in ‘Le Classique’ against Olympique Marseille and in a recent Brazil friendly, the 32-year-old captain wore custom blacked-out Nike Tiempo Maestro boots.

By deliberately masking the Nike Swoosh, Marquinhos has followed a common industry practice used by athletes when a sponsorship contract has expired or is nearing its end. While he continues to use the Tiempo Maestro silhouette for its performance and comfort, the removal of brand markings suggests a shift in his endorsement status. Marquinhos has been a prominent ambassador for Nike’s ‘Tiempo’ and ‘Phantom’ collections for over a decade. Neither the player nor Nike has issued an official statement regarding the status of their partnership.
