Marquito announces candidacy for state deputy in 2026 elections

Comedian Marquito, known for his work on the program 'Ratinho', has announced his pre-candidacy for state deputy in the 2026 elections representing the PSD party. He shared the news with his followers on Monday, August 17.

The announcement follows a period of serious medical recovery. In February, Marquito suffered a sudden medical episode while riding a motorcycle in São Paulo, leading to a collision with another motorcyclist. He underwent three surgeries and remained hospitalized in serious condition for two months, suffering fractures to two vertebrae, his clavicle, and a rib, as well as facial injuries.

Marquito stated that his goal is not simply to swap the stage for a government office, but to use his life experiences to make a difference. He is among several media personalities, including Silvia Abravanel, seeking political office in the upcoming election cycle.
