Marqués Unión y Hermandad Club Reopens After 15 Years

The Club Social y Deportivo Marqués Unión y Hermandad in the Marqués de Sobremonte neighborhood has begun a community-led revitalization after remaining closed and abandoned for 15 years. A group of volunteers has initiated repairs to address deteriorated facilities, including the reconstruction of bathrooms and general cleaning of the premises.

Alongside physical renovations, the group has established a regularizing commission to manage the legal and institutional recovery of the club. The current leadership includes Gustavo Coria, Graciela Meyer Ibañez, María Inés Brogin, Ivana González, Rubén Darío Valdiviezo, Adrián Urtiaga, and Viviana Nuñez.

To fund the project, organizers are launching campaigns to solicit materials, tools, and labor from local neighbors, businesses, and institutions. The neighborhood scout group from José Hernández has already assisted with cleaning efforts.
