Marrakech Court sentences Taoulokelt commune president to prison
The Marrakech Court of Appeal has overturned a previous ruling and issued a new sentence against the president of the Taoulokelt commune in the Chichaoua province. The president was convicted of knowingly creating a certificate containing false facts.
Two other defendants were convicted of knowingly using a certificate containing false facts. The court sentenced the commune president to three months of effective imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 dirhams. The other two defendants received one month of effective imprisonment and a fine of 500 dirhams each.
In a related civil suit, the court ordered the defendants to jointly pay 20,000 dirhams in compensation to the civil claimant. The case originated from a complaint filed by an opposition member of the communal council regarding the suspected forgery of an administrative document, which led to a public prosecution investigation.
