Marrakech Short Film Festival announces sixth edition
The sixth edition of the Marrakech Short Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 25 to 30, 2026. The event has received over 400 submissions from more than 90 countries across five continents, aiming to establish Marrakech as a hub for creative exchange and cultural diplomacy.
Venues for the festival include the Badii Palace, Cyber Park, the French Institute of Marrakech, Meydene, The Folk, and the World Storytelling Café. The program features a national competition highlighting Moroccan filmmakers through the Belarj, Nakhil, and Behja prizes. Notable Moroccan entries include works such as ‘Fading Candle’ by Ismail Ait Lahcen and ‘Aicha’ by Sanaa El Alaoui.
The international competition includes films from nations such as Italy, Iraq, China, Portugal, Australia, and South Korea. Malta will be the featured country for this edition, with nine Maltese short films spanning fiction, animation, and documentary being presented to the public.
