Marrakesh police officer arrested on suspicion of sexual assault

Police in Marrakesh have launched a judicial investigation following the arrest of a police officer, holding the rank of 'mouqaddem', on suspicion of involvement in a sexual assault.

The investigation, supervised by the public prosecutor, began after a woman filed a formal complaint. The victim alleged that the suspect, who identified himself as a police officer, sexually assaulted her after he encountered her in a public space with another individual.

In addition to the criminal proceedings, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance has issued an immediate administrative decision to temporarily suspend the officer from duty. This precautionary measure follows the internal regulations for national security employees and will remain in effect pending the outcome of the judicial inquiry. Authorities are currently working to verify all evidence and circumstances surrounding the incident.
