Marriage Hell: Couple faces scrutiny over household neglect

On the MBC variety program ‘Oh Eun-young Report: Marriage Hell’, a couple referred to as the ‘Kimbap Hell Couple’ drew intense criticism for their severe lack of household management and communication issues. The couple, who have been married for eight years and have two children, faced scrutiny over their chaotic living conditions and financial disagreements.

Key issues highlighted during the broadcast included the wife’s impulsive business decisions, such as opening a kimbap shop and later deciding to transfer the business using an AI-generated contract without consulting her husband, a real estate agent. The husband expressed frustration over the wife’s lack of financial transparency regarding business income and her tendency toward excessive spending.

The couple’s home was described as being in a state of extreme neglect. Due to a lack of time during the week, the wife admitted to purchasing 14 sets of children’s tableware to avoid daily dishwashing, intending to clean them all at once during the weekend. Observers noted significant hygiene concerns, including piles of unwashed dishes, cluttered rooms, expired food, and sprouting potatoes in the refrigerator. Dr. Oh Eun-young emphasized the urgent need for the couple to identify the root causes of these behaviors to ensure a better environment for their children.
