Marriott and SomeraRoad to transform Hotel Bossert into Ritz-Carlton Residences

Marriott International and SomeraRoad have announced plans to transform the historic Hotel Bossert into The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Brooklyn Heights. This project marks the first time the Ritz-Carlton brand will offer residential properties in the Brooklyn borough.

Located at 98 Montague Street, the 14-story Renaissance Revival landmark was originally opened in 1909 and was once referred to as the ‘Waldorf-Astoria of Brooklyn’. The redevelopment will convert the building into a 61-unit condominium featuring primarily three- and four-bedroom residences. The project includes a signature dining destination from the Union Square Hospitality Group.

SomeraRoad acquired the property for $100 million in 2025 after the building had remained largely vacant for over a decade. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved revised plans for the project, ensuring the preservation of the building’s historic exterior, which includes its geometric brick facade and ornate terra-cotta cornice.
