Marriott International to expand New Zealand presence with three new hotels

Marriott International has signed an agreement with CP Group to develop three new hotels in New Zealand, scheduled to open between 2026 and 2029. The expansion will introduce 335 rooms across several key locations, marking the debut of new brands in the country.

The project includes the introduction of the Marriott Hotels brand to Rotorua through the conversion and renovation of the current Arawa Park Hotel. Additionally, the Autograph Collection brand will debut in Auckland and Wellington. This move follows a previous partnership between the two companies regarding the St. Regis Queenstown project.

Marriott International executives noted that New Zealand, alongside Australia and the Pacific, represents a significant growth region. The expansion aims to meet increasing demand for differentiated stays beyond traditional gateway cities, highlighting the unique character of destinations like Rotorua, a cultural hub known for its geothermal landscapes and Māori heritage.
