Marriott to launch first urban Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Shanghai

Marriott International has signed an agreement with Shanghai SIIC North Bund to introduce the first urban Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Shanghai. Scheduled to open by 2030, the hotel will be located within a 103-story, 480-meter mixed-use development in the city’s North Bund district.

The property will feature 110 guest rooms and suites, marking a strategic shift for the Ritz-Carlton Reserve brand, which has historically focused on secluded, remote destinations. The new urban concept aims to provide a “sanctuary within the city,” offering highly personalized service, wellness retreats, dining, and cultural immersion.

Tina Edmundson, president of luxury at Marriott International, noted that the move represents an evolution for the brand, bringing its philosophy of intimacy and deep local connection to a major global gateway city.
