Marriott reaches 300 hotels in Mexico with 76 new projects planned

Marriott has reached a milestone of 300 operational properties in Mexico following the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Torreón. This expansion brings the company's total capacity in the country to over 44,000 rooms across 25 global brands.

Mexico serves as Marriott's primary market in the Caribbean and Latin America region, accounting for more than 50% of its open hotels and approximately 40% of its planned future openings in the territory. As of the end of the second quarter of 2026, the company has 76 hotel projects in development in Mexico, which are expected to add more than 12,000 rooms. Over ten of these establishments are projected to open before the end of the year.

A significant portion of this growth—35% of signed projects—comes from the conversion of independent assets into Marriott brands such as The Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, and Tribute Portfolio. Recent and upcoming developments include the St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort in Cancún, the conversion of The Westin Playa Vallarta into an all-inclusive format, and new projects in Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen through partnerships with BlueBay and The Reef Resorts & Spa.
