Marriott to launch City Express brand in Okinawa by 2027

Marriott International has signed an agreement to open the City Express by Marriott Okinawa Naha in the spring of 2027. This marks the first time the City Express by Marriott brand will enter the Okinawa market.

The new hotel will be located in the Asahi-machi district of Naha, occupying the site of the Naha Tokyu REI Hotel, which is scheduled to cease operations at the end of September. The project involves investment from a fund formed by LaSalle Investment Management and operations by EastGate Hospitality.

The facility will feature 215 guest rooms, including specialized bunk bed rooms for families and dedicated workspaces to cater to both business travelers and inbound tourists. The development aims to capitalize on high travel demand in Okinawa and the strategic location near Asahibashi Station and Naha Airport.
