Mars Attacks collective plans new strikes against education budget cuts

The Mars Attacks teacher collective is planning a series of protests and strikes to oppose budget cuts in French-language education. Following a general assembly in Liège, members announced intentions to increase pressure on the French Community government through “original and unusual actions.”

The collective, which has grown from a small group to representing nearly 400 schools across Wallonia and Brussels, aims to complement traditional unions by raising public awareness regarding the impact of measures implemented by MR and Les Engagés.

Key upcoming dates for mobilization include a protest with Rise up for Climat on September 6, a student demonstration on September 16, and a union-led protest in Liège on September 10. The collective is also focusing on September 27, the holiday of the French Community, as a significant date for potential actions.
