Marsa FC faces 13-point deduction despite settling debts

The Malta FA Appeals Board has upheld a 13-point deduction for Marsa FC, to be applied during the 2026/27 season. The sanction follows the club's failure to meet financial obligations by specified deadlines, specifically regarding approximately €67,000 owed to players and the Malta Tax and Customs Administration.

While the Appeals Board acknowledged that Marsa FC has since settled its outstanding debts, it ruled that the licensing regulations must be strictly applied and cannot be disregarded simply because the club regularized its position after the deadline.

Marsa FC has criticized the decision, arguing that the punishment is disproportionate given that all debts have now been cleared. The club also expressed concerns regarding the administrative burden placed on smaller organizations, calling for more support and access to legal assistance to help navigate complex regulatory requirements.
