Marsa Maroc deploys Liebherr crane at Port of Casablanca

Marsa Maroc, Morocco’s major terminal operator, has deployed the Liebherr LPS 550 at the Port of Casablanca, marking the first installation of this specific model in Africa. The rail-mounted, electric-drive crane features a 48-metre boom designed to enhance precision and reach during vessel operations.

This investment complements the three Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbor cranes delivered to the operator in 2024. The new equipment is intended to optimize bulk cargo handling, supporting the port’s capacity to manage diverse goods including cereals, minerals, steel, and animal feed. By integrating these advanced technologies, Marsa Maroc aims to increase handling efficiency and manage the high volumes of cargo passing through Casablanca, which serves as a critical maritime gateway for North Africa.
