Marsala Film Festival begins in San Francesco district

The third edition of the Piazza Ranne – Marsala Film Festival has commenced in the San Francesco district of Marsala, Italy. Running from September 2 to September 6, the event utilizes various urban spaces, including squares, alleys, courtyards, and terraces, to host film screenings, theater, music, and community meetings.

The festival aims to promote urban regeneration by using culture to revitalize the historic San Francesco neighborhood. The program features classic films such as Luchino Visconti’s ‘Il Gattopardo’ and ‘I cento passi’, alongside independent productions, short films, and encounters with actors and authors.

Organizers, including the association Stazione Utopia, describe the festival as a community project designed to reconnect citizens with their local spaces. Local authorities, including Marsala Mayor Andreana Patti and the President of the Libero Consorzio Comunale di Trapani, Salvatore Quinci, have highlighted the event's role in strengthening the Sicilian film industry and local identity.
