Marsala mayor and basketball federation chief plan upgrades to city sports facilities

Mayor Andreana Patti of Marsala met with Cristina Correnti, president of the Federazione Italiana Pallacanestro (FIP) Sicilia, and regional councilor Giuseppe Grillo during the Estathé 3×3 Italy Streetbasket Circuit in Piazza della Vittoria. The discussion focused on the maintenance and revitalisation of the city’s two main basketball venues – the 5,000‑seat Palasport and the Palamedipower (formerly the Panatletico). Both officials highlighted Marsala’s potential to host youth development programmes and larger basketball events, citing the success of the "Shock Da Ground" 3×3 tournament that is currently running in the town.

The mayor pledged to seek funding through the CONI Sports Credit and other regional resources to improve the facilities, emphasising the social benefits of sport for vulnerable neighbourhoods and its role in promoting tourism. The meeting concluded with the officials attending the finals and awards of the 15th edition of the Shock Da Ground tournament, which will later move to the national finals in Riccione.
