Olympique de Marseille appoints Bruno Genesio as head coach

Olympique de Marseille has confirmed the hiring of French coach Bruno Genesio to replace Habib Beye. He will sign a two‑year contract with an optional third year, and his salary is described as moderate to fit the club’s new financial discipline overseen by director Stéphane Richard and sporting director Grégory Lorenzi.

The appointment follows a disappointing season in which OM finished fifth, missed the Champions League and were eliminated in the Coupe de France quarter‑final. Club officials say Genesio’s experience and calm approach are intended to restore stability, with the coach himself noting, “Il faut remettre du calme car cette saison on s’est mis le feu de l’intérieur.”

Preliminary staff additions are being discussed, including former players Dimitri Farbos and Jérémie Bréchet as assistants and goalkeeper coach Nicolas Dehon, though final selections will depend on the club’s budget constraints.
