Marseille's Financial Pressures Drive Rennes to Target Defenders

Olympique de Marseille faces DNCG‑imposed financial constraints and is seeking to reduce its wage bill. The club’s Moroccan centre‑back Nayef Aguerd has a €15 million release clause that expires on 31 July, prompting Stade Rennais to explore bringing the 30‑year‑old back to Rennes.

Marseille is also scouting Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu, a 26‑year‑old who can play centre‑back or right‑back and is valued at around €6 million. Rennes have shown interest in both players as they look to strengthen their defence while Marseille balances its finances.

Both clubs have not confirmed any formal offers, and the situation remains fluid as the summer transfer window progresses.
