Marsh launches $10 billion data center insurance exchange
The insurance and reinsurance sectors are seeing significant activity in capital deployment and market consolidation. Marsh has launched Stratus, a $10 billion property insurance exchange designed to provide capacity for digital infrastructure and data center risks. This platform allows up to thirty traditional and alternative capital providers to evaluate risks on a single-placement basis.
In the brokerage sector, Aon is reportedly nearing a deal to acquire USI Insurance Services from KKR, a transaction valued at approximately $17 billion including debt. Meanwhile, Bamboo Insurance Services has filed for an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange, following a 2025 acquisition by CVC that valued the company at roughly $1.75 billion.
Regarding market trends, Fitch Ratings expects continued growth in the alternative reinsurance capital and insurance-linked securities (ILS) market through 2027 due to attractive risk-adjusted returns. However, AM Best notes that while the ILS market is growing through record catastrophe bond issuance, the deployment of traditional reinsurance capacity remains a more impactful driver of market softening.
