Marsh launches $10bn Stratus insurance exchange for digital infrastructure

Marsh has launched Stratus, a $10 billion property insurance exchange designed to manage operational risks for digital infrastructure, such as data centers and critical support systems. The exchange aims to provide access to up to $10 billion in property insurance capacity on a single-placement basis, specifically targeting the global exposures of US-domiciled companies.

Stratus functions as a structured trading environment where 30 traditional and alternative capital providers can individually evaluate risks to determine the most suitable support for each placement. This model is intended to help providers better assess, quantify, and diversify risk while addressing aggregation concerns during the operational phase of large-scale projects.

The initiative follows Marsh’s June 2025 launch of Nimbus, a construction-phase insurance facility for data centers. The move comes as the global data center insurance market is projected to grow from approximately $11 billion to over $24 billion by 2030, amid concerns that existing capacity may be insufficient to meet the needs of upcoming digital infrastructure builds.
