Marshall Manning makes high school football debut
Marshall Manning, the 15-year-old son of NFL legend Peyton Manning, made his high school football debut during a preseason scrimmage. Playing for the Baylor School in Tennessee, the freshman quarterback participated as the backup (QB2) in a matchup against Georgia's Buford.
While the debut was hampered by several poor snaps that limited his overall impact, Manning displayed accuracy while throwing on the move. He wore number 16, the same number his father used during his collegiate career at Tennessee.
For the 2026 season, Manning is expected to serve as the backup behind senior Keegan Croucher. Analysts suggest this developmental role may allow the freshman to adjust to the high level of competition at Baylor, which is ranked No. 12 nationally, without the immediate pressure of a starting role.
