Marshall University announces athletic schedules and Homecoming grand marshal

Marshall University has announced several upcoming athletic and campus events for the 2026 season. The No. 17 ranked Marshall men's soccer team is scheduled to open its regular season against Fairfield at Hoops Family Field.

For the university's Homecoming celebrations, scheduled for September 21-26, 1986 graduate and ‘Stranger Things’ actor Joe Chrest has been named grand marshal. The week's theme, ‘80s Echoes: Come Back Curious,’ is inspired by Chrest's era at the university.

In preparation for the 2026-27 academic year, Marshall Athletics hosted a ‘Welcome Back’ event for over 400 student-athletes. Additionally, the Marshall softball program has released its fall schedule, which includes home games at Dot Hicks Field and a Home Run Derby fundraiser on October 24.
