Marsicaland 2026 draws record crowds in Avezzano

The third edition of Marsicaland 2026 in Avezzano concluded with record-breaking attendance, including approximately 20,000 people participating in the Corteo Storico dei Marsi. The three-day event focused on the identity, traditions, and agricultural excellence of the Marsica region.

Key highlights included the Mercato Diretto della Terra, which showcased local agro-food products, and various discussions regarding biodiversity, innovation, and the development of internal areas. The event also featured cooking shows and roundtables addressing the future challenges of the territory.

The event gained national attention through a report on Rai 2's Tg2 Italia. The broadcast explored the historical transformations of the Marsica region, including the drainage of Lake Fucino, the 1915 earthquake, and the destruction caused by World War II. Ernesto Di Renzo, the scientific director of Marsicaland, noted that the project aims to provide a historical definition for a regional identity shaped by these significant historical traumas.
