Martí Domínguez wins Bones Lletres prize for nature and art essay

The book ‘Del natural. Una història de la natura en la pintura’, written by biologist and entomologist Martí Domínguez, has been recognized as a notable work of 2023. The text, published by Edicions 62, won the ‘Bones Lletres’ prize for humanistic essays awarded by the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona.

Domínguez, a doctor in biology specializing in lepidoptera, explores the intersection of science and art, arguing that humans are a privileged species due to our ability to create art within a world of beauty. The work is suggested as a complementary reading to the Catalan edition of Giorgio Vasari’s ‘Lives’ published by Proa.
