Marta Bassino returns to World Cup competition in Sölden

Italian alpine skier Marta Bassino will make her return to World Cup competition this Saturday, October 24, in the women's giant slalom in Sölden, Austria. This marks her first competitive appearance since a severe injury in Val Senales a year ago, which resulted in a lateral fracture of the left tibial plateau and forced her to miss the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic season.

Bassino will compete with bib number 28, with her first run scheduled for approximately 10:45. The Italian delegation includes eleven athletes, such as Lara Della Mea, who aims for her first World Cup podium, and rising talents Anna Trocker and Tatum Bieler. Other notable participants include Laura Pirovano. The event serves as the season opener for the 2026-27 World Cup circuit.

The competition consists of two runs, with the first scheduled for 10:00 and the second for 13:00. The race will be broadcast on Rai 2 and RaiSportHD, with streaming available via Rai Play, Discovery Plus, Eurosport 1, HBO Max, and DAZN.
