Marta excluded from Brazil squad as Ronaldo faces disciplinary action

The Brazilian women's national football team will face Argentina without star attacker Marta. Coach Arthur Elias decided to exclude the veteran player from the squad to prioritize her physical recovery and long-term planning for the 2027 World Cup, which Brazil will host. Marta has recently dealt with a muscle edema and a concussion protocol while playing for Orlando Pride.

In Portugal, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has opened an urgent disciplinary process against Cristiano Ronaldo. The action follows an incident on September 30, when the striker left the national team training camp after a disagreement with coach Jorge Jesus regarding his starting position. Ronaldo has issued a public apology to his teammates and fans, expressing a desire to return to the national team once any imposed suspension is served.
