Angélica and Marta Grostein declare support for Lula in Brazilian election

Brazilian presenter Angélica has announced her support for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the second round of the presidential election. In a social media video, she stated that while she does not identify as being from the left or the right and is not a member of the PT party, she chose Lula to ensure a country characterized by respect, dialogue, and the protection of rights for women, children, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Angélica noted that she had previously remained silent due to the prevalence of hate and hostility on social media, but felt compelled to speak after witnessing the mobilization of young people.

Marta Dora Grostein, mother of presenter Luciano Huck, also declared her vote for Lula. She expressed concerns regarding the potential for social and cultural regression under the administration of Flávio Bolsonaro. Grostein also highlighted the personal impact of political polarization, noting that her son, filmmaker Fernando Grostein, previously left Brazil due to death threats motivated by homophobia and political criticism.
