Marta Siciarek advocates for systemic migration rights in Poland

In an interview with OKO. press, migration expert Marta Siciarek argues that Poland must transition from providing emergency humanitarian aid to war refugees toward establishing a permanent system of rights and accessibility for migrants.

Siciarek, a co-founder of Human Rights in Practice, emphasizes the need to address systemic issues such as xenophobia and the lack of institutional support in sectors like education, healthcare, and transport. She notes that while Polish society has shown significant solidarity following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, moving toward long-term integration and equality presents new challenges.

As a model for addressing prejudice-motivated violence, Siciarek highlights Gdańsk’s Equal Treatment Centre, which operates alongside police services to provide legal and psychological support to victims of discrimination.
