Martha Elena Martínez Viveros, daughter of Paquita la del Barrio, dies in Veracruz

Martha Elena Martínez Viveros, the adoptive daughter and biological niece of the legendary Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio, has passed away in Veracruz at the age of 47 or 48.

The death was confirmed by the municipal government of Alto Lucero, the family's hometown. While an official cause of death has not been formally released by authorities, Francisco ‘Paquito’ Torres, the singer's former manager, indicated that Martínez Viveros likely suffered a sudden cardiorespiratory arrest or a massive heart attack.

Martínez Viveros lived a private life in Xalapa, away from the entertainment industry, and was a mother of three. Her passing comes approximately one year and eight months after the death of Paquita la del Barrio in February 2025. The singer had adopted Martha Elena in 1979 after finding her as a five-month-old infant in need of medical attention.

Funeral services were scheduled to take place at the Bosques del Recuerdo funeral home in Xalapa.
