Martha Karua announces death of her father, Jackson Karua

Martha Karua, leader of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), has announced the death of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua. He passed away on Sunday, September 27, at his home in Kirinyaga County.

Karua shared that she and her siblings had visited him earlier that day, spending time together and singing his favorite gospel hymn. She received news of his passing while traveling back to Nairobi. In her tribute, Karua described her father as a principled teacher and a steadfast supporter who encouraged her throughout her education, legal career, and public life.

Prominent Kenyan leaders have expressed their condolences. President William Ruto described the late Mwalimu Karua as a dedicated servant and teacher. Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta also issued a statement eulogizing him for his principled leadership and dedication to education. Other political figures, including Kalonzo Musyoka and Ndindi Nyoro, joined in mourning the loss.
