Martha Stewart showcases nature-inspired entryway design

Martha Stewart has highlighted the importance of an inviting entryway, using her Maine home, Skylands, as an example of how to connect indoor spaces with the natural landscape.

In her hallway, Stewart features a vignette composed of preserved moss and seedling evergreens sourced from her own forest garden. This design complements the home’s classic timber surroundings and utilizes the 'faux bois' technique—a French term meaning ‘false wood.’

Stewart first became interested in the technique at her Maine residence, where she commissioned artist Carlos Cortés of San Antonio, Texas, to create large faux bois concrete tables. The art form involves using materials like concrete, steel wire, and rebar to create intricate imitations of wood.
